Each tablet of Thyronorm 25mcg contains the active ingredient Levothyroxine, which belongs to the class of drugs called thyroid hormones. Thyronorm 25mcg Tablet is very useful for the treatment of low thyroid levels in the blood. It helps in the treatment of hypothyroidism, acquired hypothyroidism in children, myxoedema, and congenital hypothyroidism in infants. Normal thyroid levels are essential for the maintenance of physical and mental health, as well as the normal growth and development in children. Low levels of thyroid hormone may be caused naturally, by an injury from radiations, certain medications, autoimmune disease, insufficient iodine intake, or removal of the thyroid gland by surgery. Thyronorm 25 mcg works by supplementing thyroid hormone, which is naturally found in the body. In adults, the recommended initial dose is 2-4 Tablets (50-100 mcg) taken orally every day. It is preferable to take the dosage before breakfast. In the elderly, the initial dose should not exceed 2 Tablets (50 mcg) taken orally, which can be eventually increased at intervals of 3-4 weeks. In children with juvenile myxoedema, the recommended initial dose is 1 Tablet (25 mcg) taken orally once a day. If you skip a dose by any chance, take it as soon as you remember.
