Description
Ingredients: Rosuvastatin 5mg
Therapeutic Indications: Rosera is used in adults for the following conditions:
- Hyperlipidemia and Mixed Dyslipidemia
- Pediatric Patients 10 to 17 years of age with Heterozygous Familal Hypercholesterolemia (HeFH)
- Hypertriglyceridemia
- Primary Dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III Hyperlipoproteinemia)
- Homozygous Familal Hypercholesterolemia
- Slowing of the Progression of Atherosclerosis
- Prevention of Cardiovascular Events
Precautions:
- Drug Interactions: Caution should be exercised if rosuvastatin is administered concomitantly with drugs
that may decrease the levels or activity of endogenous steroid hormones such as ketoconazole, spironolactone, and cimetidine as it increases HbA1c and fasting serum glucose levels - Proteinuria/Hematuria: A dose reduction should be considered for patients on rosuvastatin therapy with unexplained persistent proteinuria and/or hematuria during routine urinalysis testing.
- Nursing Mothers & Pregnancy: It is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation and in women of childbearing potential not using appropriate contraceptive measures
- Children: It is contraindicated in children younger than 10 years.
- Liver Disease: There is an increase in serum transaminases with HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, including rosuvastatin. It is recommended that liver enzyme tests be performed before and at 12 weeks following both the initiation of therapy and any elevation of dose, and periodically (e.g., semiannually) thereafter.
