Kemadrin tablets are used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, or the involuntary movements caused as the side effects of certain psychiatric drugs, such as antipsychotics like chlorpromazine, or haloperidol. Kemadrin is composed of Procyclidine, which belongs to a class of medication called anticholinergics. Kemadrin works by blocking acetylcholine, thus decreasing muscle stiffness, sweating, and the production of saliva. It also helps improve the ability to walk in people who are suffering from Parkinson's disease. It is an anticholinergic, which allows it to stop severe muscle spasms of the back, neck, and eyes which could be caused by a reaction to psychiatric drugs. It can also decrease other side effects, such as muscle stiffness. Kemadrin does not help treat movement problems caused by tardive dyskinesia. You can generally take one tablet of Kemadrin with food, three to four times a day.
